A History of Western Hills Church of Christ shares a story of how the Church of Christ developed in Texas, Bell County, and eventually in Temple, Texas. Matthew Stephen has a great interest in the health of the local church. This project was inspired by a desire to better understand our local church's history to help us better steward its future. At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, his curiosity led him to inquire how churches responded to the 1918-1919 pandemic flu. Unfortunately, little was written about the church's response to the pandemic flu. He hopes this book will provide much guidance and encouragement in dealing with future challenges.

The Gospel is an explanation of who Jesus is, and what Jesus did for his people over two thousand years ago. The Gospel converts the elect; it pronounces the elect, who are unrighteous in themselves, to be righteous. The Bible says the Gospel “is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth” (Romans 1:16). The elect are brought to faith by understanding and believing the Gospel, which is found throughout the Bible. The Bible says, “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:15).

Is there really a Virgin Birth narrative in the earliest New Testament manuscripts, or has the nativity story of Jesus been misinterpreted? Was Mary, the mother of Jesus, really "impregnated" with child? Or was she, rather, "found" with child? Was Mary really shocked that she was going to get pregnant? Many people are not familiar with the Dead Sea scrolls. These ancient texts include copies or partial copies of most of the Old Testament books, which have been proven to predate Christ's ministry by 100 –250 years. The dating of these texts is very significant because it proves all messianic prophecies in these ancient Hebrew scrolls were written long before Christ existed.
